Has anyone found a good print on demand company?

Hi I am a new member and have recently finished my first book. I was wondering if anyone has found a print on demand company that they are pleased with.

Why not submit it to agents and mainstream publishers? They're always on the lookout for good books, and they pay you.

I agree with James, it is worth persuing the traditional publishers, however, if POD is for you (and it is hard work as you will become your own one person promotion department!) I can suggest 'Publish & Be Dammed' - www.pabd.com

I have used them, and found them to be very professional and cost effective with a high quality output.

Hi congo13.com,

I'm a little confused by your post. Am I reading your web site correctly--it looks like you are a POD publisher?

Yes I am sorry about that, I was trying to see who had used POD before so I could see if they would be pleased with my company.

I have used lulu.com which is a POD company and self publishing.  I love the way my book looks and it finally hit amazon.com thru lulu.com

I will continue to use them to publish more of my books.  I have also found a way to market my self published book on a smaller more personal scale.

Hello from South Africa. I'm pretty new to electronic publishing and have, therefore, looked at almost everything!

From what I have read and carefully examined, I really like 48 Hour Books. They make the whole business very clear with no technobabble to confuse!  Mind you, I am sure they are ALL very good... but 48Hrbooks got a high 'first impression' score with me..

I'm pretty new to self publishing but I just printed some books with a small print shop called Edition One Books www.editiononebooks.com and I loved working with them. It was really hard get to a person on the phone with other printers but it was definitely not the case with these folks. I could talk to Darin about every detail of my book which was really nice and reassuring. Print quality was top notch too, which is especially important to me as I also print photos.

For my paperbacks I use LightningSource. They print POD in England for distribution in Europe and at a satellite plant in Dallas for the States. They distribute through Ingrams to all wholesalers. The quality is very good.

I recently published my first book..My Life as a WEED..and weeds ( words) to live by"..it's a tongue in cheek humor about life and living outside the box..I also set up my own website(built it mysel) I retired from the medical field and had a life changing experience happen soon after...and really wasn't ready to sit on the porch in a rocker so I decided to write about what I thought and felt..

I published through I-proclaim ,I chose a stock cover that I am happy with...however I will probably try Lulu for my next book, due to a little more variety and options for cover etc...both companies offer ebooks...and your book will be search engine friendly..plus I feel a lot more comfortable now..with a little more knowledge..

look forward to hearing from you..kj

retired from medical field..living in Florida and living life with HUMOR...as a weed by choice..
