Happy Labor Day from Illinois!
Hello there!
Last year I graduated with Bachelors in English, minor in Creative Writing and Literature. I am currently pursuing my Masters in English and Creative Writing, focus in Fiction. I found a print copy of this magazine while perusing the magazine shelves at my local Barnes and Noble. It was love at first sight because I had been struggling on how to move forward to get my writing off the ground, especially needing someone to talk to about possibilities for publishing in the future.
I feel like this magazine is a great place to start. I feel most comfortable writing poetry, and have a collection of good final versions piling up. But I am feeling more and more compelled to accomplish the realm of fiction.
Currently some of my favorite authors include:
British- J.K. Rowling, Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell
Non-Western- Dr. Azar Nafisi (Iran), Lisa See (Chinese-American)
Canadian- L.M. Montgomery
US- Stephenie Meyer, Louisa May Alcott
In addition to reading these authors, I very much enjoy watching the movie adaptations of my favorite authors, and others. I know a lot of people frown upon this due to the high expectation to honor the literature, but I see the movie as an added benefit to visual representation.
