Publishing on Amazon.com

I recently published (e-published?) my first novel on Amazon.com for the Kindle. I've tried all the "social network" websites to advertise this fact and, so far, sales have been sluggish (in 2 months I've sold 5 or 6 books).  I've also tried classified advertising, online and in print publications. i keep hearing and/or reading about writers who have sold thousands, even millions of ebooks on Amazon.   Does anyone have experience publishing for the Kindle (or any other ebook format for that matter) and then  advertising that fact successfully (i.e., resulting in significant sales)?  If so, I'd love to hear from you!

Getting your book reviewed by blog authors is a great (and free) marketing strategy.

I've had some success on Amazon selling my children's picture books. I sell around 5-10 a day.

I put them on at the end of August/early September, then started blogging a bit.

I made my own website, which I think really helped as it helps people get to know you. Other than that, not much else! Check it out on www.tothewillowgarden.co.uk

Hey, Alex!

When you used social media, did you put up a post, or send direct messages to all of your connections?  I find that direct messages work a LOT better.  Sometimes, single posts have a way of getting lost, especially if they are sent to folks with hyperactive news feeds.
