Jeff,
Thanks for that excellent round-up of articles about the BEA. The comments in them match my experience of the Book Expo. It was so useful to me, as a writer, to attend, and get the pulse of the industry and its current sore spots. BEA is truly "keyword rich."
I had not expected to see as much buzz and prominence around the Kindle and iPad. Several were sacrificed in drawings, in return for business cards as entries, and the fishbowls _filled_ with cards on these drawings. It was so interesting to see that amount of excitement, within industry professionals, on these devices.
Kindle has had free device-independent applications for some time, that allow readers to read Kindle editions (without buying a Kindle)-- "Kindle for PC" and "Kindle for Mac" are two. Recently the links to these free downloads became easier to find--they are in Amazon's Kindle Store menu.
It also sounds like ePUB will be the emerging e-books format, which will work across devices. More nods on that than not.
I posted a link to your blog post on the National Writers Union book author ListServ. We'd been discussing BEA and strategies for authors in attending this mammoth event. I'm sure some of the NWU writers on the list will appreciate reading your round-up.
Kind regards,
Jill Hackett
