My mom reads more nonfiction than fiction, but she’s always
waiting for the next Patricia Cornwell novel. Or at least it seems that way to
me. Even though she knows to expect a new Kay Scarpetta book nearly every year,
she often asks me if I know when one is going to come out. I think she feels
like simply knowing the exact release date will somehow alleviate the wait. I
doubt it does, though!
In the meantime, Cornwell fans (including my mom) will be eager to find out
more about the two upcoming films, At Risk and The Front, adapted from the Win
Garano series scheduled to air on Lifetime next month. In an excerpt from
Channel Guide Magazine’s April cover story, veteran writer and reporter Lori
Acken talks with the bestselling author about seeing her stories make the
journey to the small screen. Acken, who has interviewed writers Dominick Dunne
and Jodi Picoult as well as actresses Susan Sarandon and Sarah Jessica Parker,
confesses to being a little nervous to interview Cornwell, but they quickly
bonded over “the good old days of newsrooms when you smoked inside the building
and left it to meet your sources rather than dashing off an email.”
Are you planning to watch At Risk and The
Front? What about the feature film starring Angelina Jolie as Kay Scarpetta? Do
the movies stand a chance of being as good as the books?

I think I am going to see these movies. I am hoping that they do not ruin the book because I have yet to read them. I have The Front, but I am trying to read the Scarpetta Series in order. I really like this series. I am looking forward to finishing it all together. So my question is, is which movie is Angelina Jolie starring in as Kay Scarpetta?

Thanks for your comment, Sonia. It looks like the feature film with Angelina Jolie as Scarpetta is untitled and still in development (at least per IMDb). I imagine that if it gets going, we'll hear something about it. In the meantime, that gives you more time to catch up on the books!
