Cyber-shopping for book gifts!

The holiday season is in full swing again, and if you're like me, you're still pondering the perfect gifts for some of the loved ones on your shopping list. Well, I'm here to help you with ideas for book-lovers and writers. Of course, if you're reading this I'm betting you're interested in books and writing, so you could probably put these gift ideas on your own wish list, too!

Here are four Web sites that offer great gifts that would appeal to writers and book-lovers:

www.bookbouquet.com: Just what it sounds like. Customers can order book "bouquets" for just about any occasion, for any age reader, with prices starting at $35. This company offers a large selection of books that include recent bestsellers, paperbacks, gift books, and puzzle books. Accompanying the books in the bouquets are treats such as chocolate, cookies or pretzels.

www.aagiftsandbaskets.com/book-gift-baskets: This company offers a huge range of gift baskets of all types, but has a nice selection of gift baskets that combine food and books in a price range of $23 to $379. The book selections are somewhat limited, but I think this site gets extra points because someone really smart put together a few baskets that combine books and bath products so you can read while soaking in a warm, bubbly tub!

www.theliterarygiftcompany.com: This company is in the U.K. so it might be tight getting something shipped in time for the holidays, but it had such a charming variety of book gifts that I had to include it. The offerings include jewelry, accessories, purses, things made out of books, clothing, book-cover posters and stationery, plus a lot more!

www.hollowbookstore.com: Chalk this one up to my odd sense of humor, but if you don't really want to give a book, but are looking for a gift that looks like a book, you can purchase one of the hollow books offered at this Web site. You can hide whatever you want inside (there's a photo gallery with suggestions) or just throw it up on a shelf in hopes you'll look like you've read The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. Bonus points: Many of the books are used, so this is a green gift, too! Prices start at $13.95 with an average price of $26.95. Discounts for orders of two or more books.

And last but not least, how about a gift subscription to The Writer?
