There's nothing to excite the soul of a reader like a list of books just waiting to be read. I know I've mentioned my love of lists before, but I just have to point out one that I've discovered that I think is the cat's meow: FlashlightWorthyBooks.com.
Started by Peter Steinberg and Eric Mueller, two self-professed book nuts, FlashlightWorthyBooks.com bills itself as "recommending books so good, they'll keep you up past your bedtime" and notes that the books are handpicked recommendations.
The Web site features book lists of all types in 54 categories. Here is a tiny sampling of these intriguing lists:
• Canadian Fiction Favorites
• Call Me Crazy, Call Me True: Madness We Can All Relate To
• The Things We Do For Love
• Robert Rodi's Favorite Memoirs
While suggestions for new lists or additional books are always welcome, this endeavor is not a free-for-all where everyone can post their list of favorites straight to the Web site. In addition to listing their own picks, Peter and Eric pride themselves on giving each suggestion a thoughtful review before adding it to the site. (They're onto something here. They've already got 68,000+ followers on Twitter ... OK, for those of you who Twitter ... twitter.com/FLWbooks)
Take a look at the site: I'm sure you'll find several lists you'll want to devour! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to take a look at The Chocolate and Peanut Butter of Noir and Speculative Fiction list. Yum!
