It's lots of fun, and for those here that get stuck with writing blocks, I've found EFT to be invaluable for releasing blocks - I found some great free instructional videos on Youtobe.com
I've been writing forever - or it seems like that and found the online critique group at Fanstory.com to be invaluable as well with my self confidence and maturing my writing.

My first book is already selling regularly in smaller daily amounts in an advance release version from my website as a result of articles I've written for newsletters, etc and the enthusiastic reviews posted there. The publicity is tons of work but also fun. If any of you want to share marketing ideas - it would be great visa versa or have questions about the writing process, I'm happy to share. So far I've been leaning on the spiritual thriller emphasis and "A Course in Miracles" to find a good fit with marketing readers and it seems to be working pretty well - at least for a start. You can check out what I'm doing at http://www.thegreatawakeningsaga.com/ (It was a ton of work to create this website that I made myself.) The "official publish date" for my first novel in this series will be March 2010 and per publishing rules, I can only sell it from my website before then if I want to get reviews from the big reviewers. I'm excited to have found this forum and share ideas with others writers.

Mystery writers where are you?

I write mysteries, crime fiction and fiction. I recently realized that I don't have control of where the book is heading. I took a step back and began fleshing out my characters.

Next step create a map. Problem I am a terrible artist. Can anyone recommend a drawing program, hopefully free. I used to do romance (in addition to trying my hand at a dozen different genre over the years) but I think I got too jaded so I moved to chic-lit; I'm more comfortable with the sarcasm, wit and cynicism. I tend to dabble in a variety of styles.

I actually have a bit of trouble with the twenty-nine year old heroine who thinks she's getting old and is getting desperate for a "mate". Maybe because I'm 44 and married with teenage daughters. I've been playing with Mommy-lit (I think that's what it's called) and also more of a chic-lit/mystery type thing, and I have an idea for a gay chic-lit (fem-lit I think it might be called).

Does anyone else work outside of the 'Bridget Jones' type chic-lit? Not that I don't enjoy it, although I liked the other book she came out with last year that has nothing to do with Bridget, much more - (I'm sorry I am completely blanking on the name even though I really liked it - something to do with 'Olivette' maybe, and a woman trying to be a legit reporter)

Stories with Adult Content...

I've been writing for many years and I thought I would share something that's helped me a great deal. Collaborative writing, or as some sites call it Roleplay. I write in a lot of different genres from science fiction to fantasy to romance and many more. If anyone else is looking for a place to stretch their imaginations and play off of someone else without having to censor what happens I would suggest looking at www.fracturedimagination.com/phpbb. They have helped me expand my writing skill a great deal. Hope to see some of you there!

Steampunk?

I would like to let everyone know that Ann and Jeff VanderMeer have released a great book (an anthology) on the Steampunk sub-genre. Anyone curious about Steampunk can either buy this book (it's a steal at $16.00) or check out steampunkmagazine.org, the website for Steampunk Magazine that introduces you to a lot of the culture and background of what makes Steampunk tick. This is a genre really worth checking out, especially for science-fiction and fantasy fans. Enjoy!

The Rebellious Journalist

Horror-Westerns and The Weird West

Hey, if there is anyone out there writing in this genre, or a fan of this genre, I'd love to hear from you. Perhaps someone could help me.

The plot basically involves a fictious international revolution conducted by a group who promotes a human government that gradually forms from a union of Non-government organizations, social movements, and pretty much any group that promotes international identity and world citizenship. The process is pepped up by several exciting plot events. Needless to say, the book seeks to make a poltical statement in a context that dosnt bore the readers to teers.

Also, there is a few changes in history for example Europe is one united country and the USA is a divided, the states countries in their own right.

The story is set in the future, in 2101 to be precise, so im guessing it would classify as sci-fi. But it would be good to get a more precise classification so people don't think i have aliens running around firing laser beams because there's nothing like that in it...

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

Revo

Transition from nonfiction to fiction

Hi all,

I'm a successful nonfiction writer who wants to try his hand at short stories.
