Bryan Palmer was excited to be a mobile franchise tool dealer. It was his dream come true, or so he thought. Now, both the company that sold him a bill of goods and the customers that he must collect from, are twisting him into a psycological nightmare, that sets in motion a chain of events from which he can't escape.

Query from a newbie - a little advice please

Hello everyone,

I've never actually sent a query letter so I'm a little stuck. While I understand the concept of a query/cover letter, what I'm not sure about is do I include a sample of my work or do I wait for the editor to respond with a request for more information?

A little assist on how to go about going about the process would be greatly appreciated.

Finding a mentor for query

Are there groups that you can join or places on the web where you can possibly find a good mentor. I need someone to look over a query to see if it was effective enough to send out?

Hi,

I'm starting my mid-life writing career, and for me, the best source of inspiration comes from real life. I've been checking all the writer's market books, and websites, and I have a good idea who buys such pieces. But, would I need to query first, or just send a cover letter with the completed article? I know it may vary by publisher, but what is the general rule when submitting to magazines? Thanks, Janice

How much time and energy do you put into your query letters? Does a perfect query make all the difference?
