Our magazine represents the work of both established and unpublished writers. Authors such as William Boyd, Bethan Roberts, Will Self and Terry Jones have contributed to the magazine in the past. We are also keen to cultivate links with international writers as we would like to represent a full spectrum of modern fiction. Writers in the past have been happy to contribute to the magazine not only to promote their work but to lend their support to emerging talent in what we hope is a culturally-beneficial enterprise.

If any of you are interested we would love to hear from you. Our maximum word count is 1800, however we are also very keen to receive even smaller pieces. To get an idea of what we publish you could head over to www.notesfromtheunderground.co.uk to look at our archive. If you'd like to send work in then please send it to info@notesfromtheunderground.co.uk as a word attachment with a word count and your contact details.

Thanks for your time and we hope to hear from some of you,

Chris Day at Notes From The Underground

Writing for newspapers

Hi all,

I have written for several magazines, but now have quite a few articles that I think would work well in newspapers. I was wondering if the pitching/ query process is the same for magazines, i.e. write a brief intro to the editor to see if they are interested in the full article?

Thanks for any advice.

Angela Neal

http://angelanealwriter.blogspot.com/

Now I Twitter all my latest writing! @sparklyscotty

Montevideo Living - Searching for Writing Contacts/Ideas for Publications

Hello all,

I have been writing on and off for the past eight years...been published with a few online sites like gonomad.com and intheknowtraveler.com.

I am now living here in Montevideo, Uruguay (http://movingmontevideo.blogspot.com) for a few months, and I am looking to take my travel further into guidebooks, other pubs, etc. I also provide Nikon D40x photos as well as I love photography!

If anyone has any advice, ideas, or would like to know more about me or what I search in the writing field please contact me!

Gracias adelante por todo amigos,

D

FOB pieces

If I am interested in writing FOBs as a way of breaking into magazines.

Do I pitch the idea via a short query first, or (since they are typically short pieces), should I go ahead and write it and then submit it?

Thank you

Kate

Clips

When a magazine asks for clips - do they simply want a citation or do they want a copy of the entire article?

Best magazines and papers for writers breaking in??

Hello, everyone!

Greetings from centeral New Jersey!
