I've spent an hour browsing the forum, and would love to see more active members here. Replying to posts that are months, or years, old doesn't seem worthwhile--sort of like talking to myself.

Sara

Hi guys i am verronica .i like this site so much because there are all things what i want so i love it .

Verronica

http://www.crystalrecovery.com

another suggestion

Hello The Writer staff. Though I just joined the forums I may already seem familiar. I posted a suggestion in the Staff Blog Comments forum about marketing The Writer forums. This idea sort of goes along with that one. How about a forum where members can discuss writing in general? Not the business of writing, not specifics such as grammar, but a broader forum to discuss things like writer's block, (whether it exists or not), to share information with one another, or simply just to talk.

What do you think?

edited to add: if such a forum already exists, would you please point me to it? Thanks very much.

Uh, Why Premium Forums?

Did I or other people suddenly become experts suddenly? I was wondering if respondents are copying and pasting these previous comments on purpose, or whether they just "show up"? I notice it is not happening on all posts, and some have replies in a box, also sometimes with reply comments from others. I don't remember seeing this sort of format in the old forum area, but I had only joined up a couple of weeks ago and was not that familiar with the old forum site, so maybe I am mistaken. I am having a harder time reading the forum posts because I am having to read through the other posts to get to the respondent's commeents. Is this just me or is this aggravating to others?

Also, on the old forum, there was a place to mark a section for an alert e-mail when there was a reply to a post. I don't see that now. I thought that was a convenient feature if there was a topic you wanted to track without looking at the others and if you just wanted to hop over to the site for a quick read. Am I missing something?

The chance to improve upon someone elses story or add my own two cents has always appealed to me. But to what end? The only opportunity I got was with several third graders that didn't know one end of a pencil from the other.

So, is this practice banned or frowned upon by older peoples? We are told to write, write, write!! Wouldn't a group of people just committing to write for a half hour a day on an assigned topic keep those minds sharp and pencils moving?

Well, whatever the function of a "writing circle", to practice or continue one story with fresh points of view every turn, are they truly phazed out? I feel they could be revived if they were treated properly by those who are serious about writing. I crave to slip into the muddy flow of my mind and have it joined by the clear stream of thought provided by others to dilute the sludge that keeps me trudging in circles, chanting the same old stuff.

Perhaps those that share my point of view could contact me and we could set up such a lovely situation. It'd be like a cold dip in the pool on a hot summer day: refreshing and invigorating. Feel free to email me: Goldenfrog42@yahoo.com.
