I am very new to the forum scene, but have been writing most of my life. I took a serious interest in writing when I began journaling more than 20 years ago. Being a single parent of a 22-year-old, I thought it only fitting to write about my experience. My first memoir is in production. In my book, When Darkness Consumed My Faith: A Single Parent's Journey Out of the Storm, I tell of the trials my daughter and I faced, how we overcame them. I also speak of the many challenges that are attached to parenthood.

My daughter and I have been through much turmoil, but by praying and believing in God, we are closer than ever. We are overcomers of adversities that might have destroyed the spirits of most others.

I know very few writers. What I hope to get out of blogging here at Writermag, is to meet others, single parents or not, who have an interest in writing memoirs, personal essays or short stories.
