Length of novel

	Hi all, new to website -- and a novelist wannabe!!! Can someone inform me as to the general length of a novel, i.e. I heard 75,000 words. Is this true or are there other lengths that would be considered a novel. I have 25,000 words, so too long of course for a short story -- is there anything in between, or should I keep writing...and writing...and writing.. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows the answer.

	Don't worry about word count so much as putting your story down in print. My current project has over 60,000 words and I am far from done with the first draft. The only thing that matters is your happy with your story. Now go write!

	I agree with Dylan. The best thing to do is write, get to the end of your story then think about the word count. Don't forget that when you edit - it will change drastically. I once had a short story that was suppose to be less than 1500 words. I could barely get 500. I had my son edit and sure enough something he said helped me write a better story and yes! I got to 1500 words. I was shocked. With a novel, just write and write.
