How to Keep and Feed The Muse

I've just read Ray Bradbury's 1961 article "How to Keep and Feed The Muse" re-published in the April 2008 issue of The Writer Magazine.  I found the writing beautifully lyrical. I'm so pleased that the article was found in the archives and someone had the appreciation of the piece to recognise it for its quality of writing and its wise advice.  So many really good things have been written and are inaccessible. I look forward to more.

I've carried around, in my memory books, an article from an old National Geographic Magazine about Henry David Thorea.  The article included wonderful photographs of Walden and the story introduced me to Henry. I wanted to re-publish the article on my website www.artuccino.com so I contacted the author (whose name I now can't relocate) via email and he told me that National Geographic owned the copyright to the article so he was unable to give his permission, however he was delighted that I remembered his work from so many years ago.  Also, I was delighted to correspond with someone whose writing I appreciated. The sad thing about this is there are so many articles held and owned by large corporations.  They may never give access to these stories ever again. How awful.

I am forever grateful to the internet and in particular to Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page) for the republishing of so many things.  And now I'm grateful to The Writer magazine for remembering a really well written piece bt Ray Bradbury
