May I suggest that you go online and check out San Diego Writers, Ink? There's quite a bit going on in San Diego; in fact, there's a SoCal Writer's Conference approaching, but I was unable to locate the date information. They typically have one half of the conference in San Diego and the other half in LA or Palm Springs or something like that.
