Before christmas break (yes, still in school here, only 15) one of my friends told me about the Twlight series. I read the first one and was absolutely hooked. I got a gift certificate for borders for christmas and the first thing i bought were the second and third books in the series. i read them them in 3 days back to back. Until i reread Eclipse (the third one) i couldn't even separate what was in the second book from the third.

So i guess i want to know what everyone thought of the books. I thought they were amazing. I absolutely love Stephanie's writing style. There's something about the characters, her writing style, and the type of book that just all put together creates the best book i think i have ever read. When Bella was depressed, i would litterally start getting depressed my self. The last chapter of Ecplise had be crying 3 days after i read it if i would just think about it.

It's hard for me to get so hooked on a series (only other time i have been is with harry potter a few years ago). I have tried reading Eragon and other similar books, but none have caught my intrest. So my other question is any suggestions for books to read while i await the release of the next book?

I am just like you, I literally got goosebumps and butterflies in my stomach everytime I would think about the book! After the first book (which I also read in 3 days) I was hooked! I luv the way stephenie meyer writes! Im already on the fourth one and im luvin it!!!

I'd like to start by saying that I have not read all of the Twilight series, I have only read part of the first one. Also, I don't want to offend any Twilight fans, this is just my opinion of what I read and you are more than entitled to your own.

 Quite frankly, I hated it and couldn't bring myself to finish it, which is rare for me, usualy I try to finish a book once I've started it. I found the writing style infantile and the characters were either bland or hateful. Bella is dull and seems to be that way so the reader Twilight is aimed at, teenage girls, can impose themselves over her quite easily. Edward was unrealistic and annoyingly 'perfect' to the point where he wasn't really a character at all but a cardboard cutout. Both lead characters are also incredibly selfish in their actions, putting not only themselves but the others around them at risk just so they can be together.

 Also, vampires do not sparkle in the sunlight, end of.

I read New Moon just out of the blue. I didn't know anything about the series, I had left my book at home one day and was going to be at a store for a while and wanted to pick up something to read and the $8.88 price caught my eye. It looked thick, so I thought it was an adult novel. I had no idea what it was about, the cover art was enthralling and I started reading it. Little did I know I was "breaking the series order" which I later caught much grief for. Now many people insisted I read Twilight, I have it sitting on my bookshelf but can not bring myself to read it despite the recommendations. Yes, I thought New Moon was decent, but it is obviously geared towards young readers. This is not a book for a 27-year old college student to be really enjoying. I think they are great for young girls. Two of my professors have recommended the Sookie Stackhouse series "True Blood" I think it is called; they ensured it was geared towards a more mature audience. Haven't checked them out though.
