What IS my genre?
My recently finished novel has a romance at it's core but it is also a story of adventure.  I know that romance can be a lucrative way to go but I'm not sure how to classify this piece of work. Can I submit this to a publisher/agent without a classification?

Re: What IS my genre?

Submitting without a genre will work against you. Publishers, and therefore agents, want to know where in the bookstore a work will end up. It's all about marketing.

Romance has many subgenres. I suggest finding a list of them and selecting one that comes close to your book. You also need to tell what the competition is and how your manuscript is different, better, etc. You need a genre to define that.

Good luck,

Carol

All you would need to do, to find out which genre to classify your work within, is to look at similar books and make a note of how they've been described.

Read books with your same theme and then apply the genre that they used.

Looking for someone who will do my essay.
