The End

The End

They say that the end is coming.

They say that the end is near.

Our judgment day

And dark dismay

Will very soon be here.

They say the dark is coming.

They say the dark is strong.

Our judgment day

And dark dismay

Will be here before long.

They say the reaper's coming.

They say the reaper's sharp.

Our judgment day

And dark dismay

Will hand us horns or harp.

I say the end is coming.

I say the end is nigh.

But why waste my life

Fearing my final strife?

Too much to do 'fore I say 'Good-bye.'

Re: The End

Hi,

I'm not a writer of poetry, but I do enjoy it.  I go to a wonderful series of bon fire poetry readings through the summer where we soak up the works of several award winning poets.

I liked your poem, very gothic.  I could imagine it a number performed by a goth band.

The repetition and gentle evolvement were nicely done, I thought.  It was just enough of an up swing at the end to offer hope but not too much to destroy the delighfully dark beginning.   I have the feeling that in the "end" is inevitable but the moment should be treasured.  What you intended, yes?

Keep it up,
