No, not that CIC. I'm referring to the new ABC television show.
Commander In Chief Seen As Clinton Warmup : this was
an article appearing today in AP news. The columnist, Frazier
Moore, quoted several conservative bloggers, conspiracy theorists and
just plain scared Republicans. They see the show as, and I
quote:
"Commander in Chief" isn't just this fall's most-watched new series - it's a
sinister scheme by Hollywood lefties to hype Hillary Clinton for the White
House.http://apnews.excite.com/article/20051011/D8D611VO0.html
Oh dear. We have met the enemy Pogo, and he is us.
The point I keep missing is this, and please forgive my mom for raising
such a stupid kid. What the hell is it that we liberals do that
makes the NeoCons and the Religious Right so frightened?
Near as I can deduce, and remember folks, I already admit to being
really, really dumb. I mean I have to be to even post this,
right? Near as I can deduce, we take the poor hard-working sap's
taxes and spend the money on people who don't work, you know who I'm
talking about, don't be shy. Admit it, those smarmy, cigarette
smoking, gin drinking harlots with no husbands and six kids.
Makes your blood boil, I say.
OK, I'm willing to listen. After all, that's part of being
liberal. I really am willing to hear their side of the
story. Hell, I even read and enjoy George Will.
But what I read and hear doesn't really make a lot of sense. See,
I hear that for a conservative, it's much better to take our tax
dollars and use the money to get our young men and women killed in a
country that up until it smited Moses by spanking his daddy, used to be
on the conservative hit parade!
Mom, I'm really, really sorry. I know you tried to raise me
to be kind to others and walk a mile in their shoes and don't be afraid
of the dark and God's just an idea and animals have souls too 'cause
we're all energy. But Mom, there's way too much dark energy out
there now. I think it happened because we got complacent.
We figured everybody wanted freedom and wanted to think
independently.
They don't Mom. They're scared. They want to be led.
In fact, it doesn't even matter if Moses leads them across the river or
right down into the swamp and drowns them all. I guess 'Free' Will
just costs too much.
I hereby officially announce that these are strictly my views and not
those of liberal atheists in general, and I do apologize to all persons named Moses, living or not.
And to all of you, Red or Blue - Good Writing. Me, I think I'll go take a nap.
