Hello, people. The following is a thought that just seeped into my head one day and was left unfinished. The background for the thought is that I have spent the past three years neglecting myself while I tend to obligations that I take on for others, dealing with some major depression, and realizing that every little joy that enters my life and makes me want to sing, is followed by something that is worse yet than the worst of the bad already experienced. It has made me leery--bordering on suspicious-- of happiness.
Punch drunk?
I stare at these words and know not where to take them. Maybe someone else can find a natural place for them--include them or twist them or even just take a line from them:

clouds of stale euphoria
gather above my head
as the storm brews
oppressive with the electrical weight
and hum
of loss and regret

Re: clouds

Have you thought of posting this in the poetry section?  I also thought you had a great start here.  You might want to give it more thought and come at it from different directions.

Someone coming down from a pot head high.

The aftermath of a one nighter.

Someone confessing they've gone off on a trip to Las Vegas, won and lost a fortune.

I'm sure there are many ways you could go with this.  Think back to what inspired you in the first place.

love, LinnAnn
